The performance is based on the great story by Franz Kafka, under the same title.
How to interpret an anonymous city,a hero, a court, a trial and a sentence?
There are plenty possibilities of understanding the story and the performance. Here are some of them:
- the fate of Józef K. might be read as of one put before the power: the government, the institutions that decide for him. The conflict between the individual and the ubiquitous power is called a Kafka’s situation. The piece shows the position of the Office worker and the citizen. This is a biographical piece about F Kafka, who worked as the Office worker in an insurance firm.
- We can look At it from the metaphysical angle, as on a reflection about human’s existence. We are helpless before the world’s laws; we are born, sentenced to life , the hardship of independent decisions and the surprising us without any explanations death (in the story the sentence is a symbol of death)
- the fate of Józef K. in the interpretation above are a parabole of the human’s fate. The story is about the unknown in one’s life, who feels deeply solitaire, lost in the real World and lonely facing God
- we could also tke it as an example of some kind of examination of conscience of the main Hero or his attempts to become self-conscient.
